STANDISH — Even though the weekend got warm, the 4th Annual Bay Shore Club Winter Bash Weekend went off as a hit.

Bay Shore President Dave Beechum said the bash went very well.

“I think that Standish will benefit from this,” he said.

Although final totals have not been tallied from the event, that took place on Feb. 12 and 13, Beechum said that over 3,000 snowmobilers were on the ice over the weekend.

“Everyone seemed to have a great time,” he said. “We had 560 people participate in our snowmobile run.”

In the past Beechum said that around 280 people participated in the snowmobile run.

This was the first year that the Winter Bash featured professional snowmobile drag racing. Beechum said that racers he talked to loved the event and want to come back.

“It seems like everyone wants to come back again,” he said.

Beechum said that there were a few minor incidents that took place over the weekend including one racer who was injured, and portable heaters that were stolen from the vendor tents.

“We are going to review a few things and look at all of the ins-and-outs from the event,” he said.

Beechum said that the weekend was a little warmer than anticipated, but that did not stop everyone who came out from having a good time.

“You can’t predict Mother Nature,” he said.

The Bay Shore Club, who hosted the Winter Bash, will also be hosting a benefit dinner in the near future. Beechum said that the group wants to say thank you to everyone who made the bash a success.

“We don’t have a date set yet. We just want to say thank you,” he said.

Beechum said that the bash was a learning experience.

“It was a great event and we will be back next year,” he said.
