AuGRES-SIMS — AuGres-Sims' Nate Jennings scored 11 points -- including a pair of 3-point plays in the first half -- and pulled down 14 rebounds Monday as the Wolverines wore down visiting Oscoda 50-31.

Jennings was a force in the paint, particularly in the first half.

"He's a physical player," said Oscoda coach Kirk Franklin. "He was hard to handle."

"Any time we can get that kind of game out of Nate, we'll take it," said AGS coach Gordie Ostrander.

The Wolverines led 25-14 at the half.

"We tended to rush everything," Franklin said. "We didn't let our offense work at all. But give AuGres credit for some of that; they played some tough 'man' defense and doubled up the ball well.

"We just need to be smarter at handling the ball."

The Wolverines pulled away in the third quarter as Chad Taylor hit a pair of 3-pointers after Jennings temporarily left the game with an injury.

"We did better at some things we've struggled at," Ostrander said. "We shot our free throws a lot better and we rebounded pretty well."

Taylor finished with 13 points to lead AGS (6-7) , with Alex Lutz scoring 10.

Tom Schonfeld and Justin Cain each scored six for the Owls (3-8).
