Alger Parks and Rec hosting Christmas party Dec. 9

Posted

FOREST LAKE — Christmas cheer will come to the Alger area during Alger Parks and Rec’s annual children’s Christmas party at the Forest Lake Clubhouse Dec. 9.

Parks and rec Chairwoman Marion Chard said there will be plenty of holiday attractions and activities at the party.

“We always have Santa, and we’re going to hand out Christmas stockings to all the kids filled with goodies and candy and trinkets and all sorts of good stuff,” she said. “We’ll have a movie running. We’re showing ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.’ We’ll have crafts for the kids to do. Of course we’ll be serving cookies and punch and cupcakes. All of the usual goodies.”

The party runs from 2-3:30 p.m. Chard said this will be the sixth party of its kind hosted by Alger Parks and Rec, and each year it has grown.

“Last year I think we had about 85 kids,” she said. “There were quite a few. When we started off I think we were getting maybe 40. Steadily it’s been growing through the years.”

The Forest Lake Clubhouse is located at 6180 Bobcat Trail in Alger.
