Allan E. Caesar, 86, of Au Gres passed away July 25, 2017, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 29, 1930, to the late Eunice Lee Caesar and Ernest Thor Caesar of Saginaw. He graduated from Saginaw High. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who enjoyed being with his family. He married Geraldine “Gerri” Pappas July 3, 1954. Their children include Cynthia Marie Brown, Sandra Marie Burr, Allan E. Caesar Jr. and Bradford Caesar (deceased). He served in the Army from 1951-1953 in Korea. He worked as a metallurgist for General Motors for 43 years.

Besides being with family, he enjoyed fishing, playing music, writing music, singing with the children, camping, going to Florida, theater (plays), inventing things — electronic or any type of gadgets, the casino and having parties with his friends, Mary Ann and Tom Thayer.

Allan is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife; children; brother-in-law, George Pappas; sister-in-law, Edith Pappas; grandchildren, Shannon (John) Dougan, Kelly Burr, Chelsey Burr, Kristie Wolpert, Kyle (Kellie) Wolpert, Leandra Shaver and Allan Caesar III; great-grandchildren, Katrina Shaver and Kennedy Wolpert; step-grandchildren, Marshall (Carrie) Brown III; Stephanie (Rick) Frizzle; great-grandchildren, Bay Brown and Taryn Brown; foster grandchild, Stephany Hutchison; many nieces and nephews; special friends in Florida who were like his own children; special friends and family; and the family dogs.

In addition to his parents, Allan was preceded in death by his son, Brad Caesar; his brother, Gene Caesar; and his sister, Mildred Kwiatkowski.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. David Urbanski; his nurse Donna; the chemo center staff and hospice, a service of St. Joseph Health System, and its wonderful nurses and staff, especially Debbie Miller, who was with him in the end; Virginia Cymbal, who gave ongoing support; and Carol Hale, who walked with us through the heartbreak.

According to Allan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Allan will take place 9:30-11 a.m. with Mass following on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at St. Mark’s of Au Gres, 415 S. Court St. Father Thomas Kowalczyk will officiate. Interment will be at a later date.
