Arlene E. (Dubay) Stodolak, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at St. Mary’s of Saginaw Hospital with her family at her side.

Arlene was born March 22, 1930, at the Omer Hospital to Peter B. and Elizabeth (Smith) Dubay. Arlene graduated from Arenac Eastern High School in 1949. She remained a lifelong resident of the Omer area.

Arlene was a businesswoman in the city of Omer and was the first woman appointed to the Omer City Council. She was also instrumental in bringing a family physician to town, co-owner of Alumi Craft Inc., and owner/operator of Arlene’s Antiques. Her last endeavor was the opening of Arlene’s Family Restaurant. The things she enjoyed the most were her family, her cats Tommy and Smokey, flower gardening, bowling and dancing.

Arlene is survived by her two sons and their families: son, Richard A. (Sheralene Mowbray) Stodolak; grandchildren, Stephanie (Mike) Erickson and Rick (Sarah Cozart) Stodolak; great-grandchildren, Colton, Mylayna and Aubrielle Erickson; son, Ron (Carrie Steward) Stodolak; grandchildren, Renee (Troy) Sharp and Dustin (Darcy Young) Stodolak; and great-grandchildren, Deacon and Dakota Stodolak and Elee and Jessica Sharp. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend from kindergarten, Joyce George.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Dubay; sisters, Gladys Payne and Mary Fales; baby, Dorothy; granddaughter, Miranda Stodolak; and her special friend, Howard Champagne.

Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with Ricky R. Rockwell officiating and interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Omer. The family will greet family and friends Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 3-8 p.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel and Thursday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.

The family of Arlene would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of St. Mary’s of Saginaw ICU third floor and Dr. Salibi for their compassionate and professional care. Also to St. Mary’s of Standish ER staff.
