FAIRVIEW — Arenac Eastern fell behind early and could never catch up Thursday as the Eagles dropped their North Star League opener to Fairview 75-58.

Fairview blasted to a 19-5 lead after one quarter. Arenac Eastern played the pre-season NSL favorites nearly even the rest of the way, but it was too little, too late.

"We had a horrible first quarter," said Arenac Eastern coach Bob Morgan. "After that we played OK.

"Still, (I was) not happy with our performance. If we could just get five players to play well the same night we would be tough."

Joe Koslakiewicz scored 22 and Jubal Handrich added 18 to lead Fairview (2-0, 1-0 North Star League).

John Chmura and Sean Norton each scored 12, with Graham Morgan adding 11 for AE. Morgan added 13 rebounds and Chmura had seven rebounds.

The Eagles (1-1, 0-1 NSL) travel to Hillman on Monday, Dec. 15 while Fairview hosts Posen.
