Betty Jane Ehrnst, 92, of Pinconning, formerly of Tawas City and Turner, passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2017, at Huron Woods Nursing Home in Kawkawlin, with family by her side.

Betty was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Andrew W. and Katherine (Sturtz) Weigandt. She attended and graduated from Beecher High School in 1943 and then met and married Norman Ehrnst on Feb. 13, 1944, at St. Agnes Church in Flint. Betty was an avid reader, and she enjoyed crocheting and being outside enjoying Michigan weather. She loved playing card games and crossword puzzles and being with her family and grandchildren, who say she was a great gift-giver. Betty never even needed a holiday, birthday or anniversary; she just loved to shower her loved ones with gifts. This, they will all miss dearly.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Gary Ehrnst of Tawas City, Janet (Joel) Young of Twining and Linda (Ed) Decker of Pinconning; daughter-in-law, Annie Klinger of Lennon; sister, Shirley Johnston of Hersey; grandchildren, Michael, Stacy, Ellen, Darcy, Erica and Emma; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1997; son, Bruce Ehrnst; and brother, Andrew “Uncle Bill” Weigandt.

A graveside service will be held at noon Monday, June 26, 2017, at Sims-Whitney Township Cemetery in Au Gres. Father Gerald Balwinski will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to Tawas Area Honor Guard, 401 E. State St., East Tawas, MI 48730. Online condolences may be offered at
