Clifford “Max” May, 86, of Standish passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at home.

He was born March 23, 1931, in Owosso to the late Clifford C. and Neva F. (DeBarr) May. Max graduated from Corunna High School in 1945. He owned his own business and worked as a wholesale florist and greenhouse grower for 50 years. Max loved camping at Outdoor Adventure in Standish. He had a love for boating on the Great Lakes, owned many cabin cruisers and loved to troll for lake trout and salmon. He was also an avid bowler. Max was a Christian man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed volunteering at their church men’s breakfasts and food pantry distribution. Max also enjoyed his weekly visits with his friends for coffee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorrene Marie May, whom he married in 1984 in Madison Heights; stepchildren, Dawn Markell of Michigan, Brian Streeter of Florida, Stacey Holder of Iowa and David Streeter of Michigan; his children from his previous marriage, Larry May of California, Jerry May of California, Sheryl Meyer of Michigan, Terry Lafalce of Michigan, Barbara Woolford of Florida, Karil May of California and Mari Heath of Michigan; one brother and sister; 26 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Standish Free Methodist Church in Standish, with a memorial luncheon following the service. You may offer your condolences online at
