Clyde Henry Allan, 78, of Sterling passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side after a lingering illness.

Clyde was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Flint to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Hurlburt) Allan. He married Ardith Crandell Aug. 21, 1969, in Davison. Clyde was a tool and die maker working for various places including General Motors, subsequently retiring from Hudson Tool & Die, Ormond Beach, Fla.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ardith; and four children, Angelia VanWoert, Juanita (Rick) Bejin, Robert (Karen) Allan and Athena Asher. He is survived by 18 grandchildren, Rochelle Smithingell, Bambi VanWoert, Heather Turpin, Erica Dugger, Andrea Minarik, Kristin Soerries, Shannon Keppler, Amie Adams, Kelly Cox, Lisa Bejin, Robert Allan, Jason Allan, Renee Coleman, Faye Asher, Audrina Birge, Alesha Asher, Tosha Asher and Scott Allan Jr.; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Shirley Orvis; one brother-in-law, Dean Crandell; and two sisters-in-law, Audrey Bergeron and Marietta Oleksiak.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Allen Sr. and Elizabeth Allan; brother, Frank Allan Jr.; sister, Irene McKay; daughters, Yvonne Wiley and Denise Smithingell; son, Scott Allan Sr.; and grandson, Matthew Wiley.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with grandson-in-law Blaine Dugger officiating. Interment will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Sterling. Family will greet family and friends from 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, until time of service at 2 p.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel.
