David Franklin “Frankie” “Gator” Knight, 47, of Sterling passed away at his home Friday, April 27, 2018.

David, the son of Franklin D. and Rosenna M. (Borzelleri) Knight, was born Jan. 20, 1971, in Gainesville, Fla.

Mr. Knight had resided in Sterling since 2016, coming from Hickory, N.C., and Chiefland, Fla. David enjoyed making and shooting recurve bows as well as studying and shooting primitive archery. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, often watching hunting and fishing channels on television. He loved grilling meals for his family and friends and considered himself a grill master. Mr. Knight was proficient in the welding and fabricating trades, spending many years working for himself and various fabricating shops.

Surviving David are his wife of 14 years, Cora L. Knight of Sterling; one daughter, Sierra (Chris) Niemeier of Vale, N.C.; nine sons, Drew (Jess) Knight of Harrison, Devon Knight of Harrison, Franklin “Dylen” Knight of Chiefland, Daltin “Brian” Knight (Alexis Merritt) of Orlando, Fla., Criston “Cris” Knight of Chiefland, Triston Knight also of Chiefland, Ritchie (Bambi) Anstine of Milwaukee, Wis., Monroe (Victoria) Anstine of Sterling and Daniel Anstine of Hickory; five grandchildren, Emma Knight, Nevaeh Lafferty, Timothy Lafferty, Christian Niemeier and Fidela Anstine; one sister, Julie Cutchins-Stump of Chiefland; one brother, Dean (Andrea) Knight of Statesville, N.C.; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his beloved dogs, Woogie and Reevo.

Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; one sister, Laurie; and one brother, Brian.
