Dianne L. DeMello, 77, of Au Gres (formerly of Readfield, Maine, Cabin Creek, Mont., and the South Shore of Massachusetts) died Thursday, Nov. 2, at St Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw after a short illness.

Born Nov. 1, 1940, in Quincy, Mass., she was the daughter of William and Merriel (Pratt) Falconer of Cohasset, Mass.

Dianne was a devoted wife to her husband Ray and a mother to six children. She was employed as a supervisor at the Senator Inn of Augusta, Maine, for many years. She also assisted on the family poultry farm raising 62,000 chickens every seven weeks. Always an active learner, recently she had been taking courses through the University of Maine and was nearing completion of her associates degree in general studies.

Dianne enjoyed cooking and baking, and was a wiz at crossword puzzles. She was a very involved mother and an ongoing source of wisdom for her children. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or holiday, always sending cards with a special handwritten note. Ray and Dianne moved to Au Gres a few years ago to spend time with their oldest son and enjoyed a cottage on a waterway connected to Lake Huron. She loved sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife and boats on the river.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Raymond A. DeMello; and her six children, Dana (Jamie) DeMello, Brian (Carole) DeMello, Alan (Jill) DeMello, Barbara (Ray) Verzillo, Mark (Kelly) DeMello and Kim (Pat) Brann; 15 grandchildren, Danielle, Lacy, William, Craig, Brandon, Heather, Brianna, Barry, Joshua, Megan, Ana, Salina, Karina, Jacob and Julia; great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Meredith and Harlow; and great-grandsons, Owen, Billy and Abel.

Services will be held at a later date at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.
