Eulah C. Mezey-Burge

Died Jan. 21, 2018


Eulah C. Mezey-Burge of Alger passed away peacefully into the loving hands of her sweet Jesus on Jan. 21, 2018.

Eulah was born to J.T. and Leona Armstrong. She married Leonard Mezey in March 1949. He predeceased her in September 1980. She met and married her second husband, William Burge, through the auspices of her sister Alice and Alice’s husband Russell Hartman in 1983. William also predeceased her.

Eulah spent her entire life in Arenac County, except for a two-year interval at Hubbard Lake. She raised and praised her children, hosted and cooked for many large family gatherings “at the farm” and was always very willing to help anyone who needed help. She also developed an extreme interest in politics and was active in the county Democratic Party.

Eulah is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Simmons; and her son, Leonard (Kimberly) Mezey. Also mourning her passing are grandchildren, Craig (Lisa) Simmons, Mark (Kimberly) Simmons, Shawn Mezey, Tony (Candy) Mezey, Jennifer (Brandon) Hopp and Michael (Kendra) Mezey; and great-grandchildren, Ashton Simmons, Teegan Simmons, Macie Simmons, Abigail Mezey, Gage Mezey, Gabrielle Mezey, Gunner Mezey, Hannah Mezey, Dillon Mezey, Zayn Mezey and Tyler Mezey; and one great-great-grandson, William.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with the Rev. Devin Chisholm officiating. Burial will be in the Alger Cemetery, Alger. The family will greet family and friends from 3-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home and from noon until time of service Tuesday.
