John E. "Jack" Stolt

Died May 10, 2018


John E. “Jack” Stolt, 82, of Au Gres passed away peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2018, surrounded by his family at home.

Jack was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Pontiac to the late Walter W. and Isabelle A. (Shantney) Stolt. He graduated from Pontiac General High School in 1953. In 1971, he began his legacy as owner and chief executive officer at Town & Country Lounge in Au Gres. He was dedicated to his business, making it successful until his retirement in 2001, although he could still be seen for years later. Jack was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Au Gres, the Lions Club of Michigan, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Tawas City, Elks Lodge of Tawas City, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2525 of Tawas City, Arenac County Walleye Club and the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling to the casino, his yardwork and most of all deer hunting.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Flora A. (Gonzales) Stolt of Au Gres; daughters, Debra (Mike) Ouillette of Pinconning and Fonda (Michael) Summers of Irons; sons, JR (Lauren) Stolt of Au Gres, Robert (John Paul) Stolt of Orlando, Fla., and Mark Stolt of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Cory, Kevin, Jeffrey, Melvin Jr., Kayla, Aerial, Jason, Curtis and Pierce; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, William Stolt.

Visitation for Jack will take place 3-8 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres, MI 48703. Christian burial service will be held 11 a.m. (in state 10 a.m.) Tuesday, May 15, at St. John Lutheran Church, 206 N. Court St., Au Gres. Pastor Frederick T. Cordts will officiate with cremation to follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Sims-Whitney Township Cemetery in Au Gres.
