Kenneth L. McElroy, 79, of Standish passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.

Ken was born July 17, 1937, in West Branch to the late Edward and Georgia (Wilson) McElroy. He lived most of his life in the Standish area. Ken married the former Catherine Kiley Dec. 24, 1965. Catherine passed away Feb. 28, 1996. Ken was a member of the Standish American Legion Post 104 and the Moose Lodge of Skidway Lake. He loved to go camping and loved to hunt. Ken loved to play bingo and his trips to the casino. Most of all Ken loved his family, and to many he was a kindhearted, gentle person.

Ken is survived by his children, Kendra (Troy) Yonke, Allen “Joe” (Michelle) McElroy, Laura Scheid, Shirley (Ken) Collins and Patrick Adams. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Amber (Tony) Steele, Allen McElroy, Janessa Krause, Austin Krause, Marissa Yonke, Lon Scheid, Shane (Mikelyn) Scheid, Melissa Adams, Michael (Brenda) Adams, Nicole Mathews, Steven Collins and Samantha Perry (Joe); and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friend, JoAnn Foetz.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with the Rev. John Tousciuk officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Family will greet family and friends from 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until service time at 3 p.m. According to Ken’s wishes, cremation will follow the service at the funeral home.
