Madelyn (Heeney) Egerton, 91, of Au Gres passed away suddenly Friday, July 28, 2017, at Bixby Hospital in Adrian, surrounded by her loving family.

Madelyn was born July 26, 1926, in Marlette. She married George Egerton on July 21, 1951, in Marlette, and together they raised two children, Yvonne and James. Madelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she played handbells for many years and acted as a secretary. She was a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, where she met her future husband, George, and then continued to teach in Royal Oak for many years. Madelyn also worked many years for the A.J. Desmond & Son Funeral Home in Troy. She will be fondly remembered by both family and friends for the many cards she would send, whether birthday, anniversary, wedding, sympathy or get well cards.

Madelyn is survived by her daughter, Yvonne K. (Jim) Walsh; son, James H. Egerton; grandchildren, Matthew, Marc “Marcus” (Dana), Kate (Steve) Thornton, Christie, Andy and Julie Lloyd; and six great-grandchildren.

Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nina (Shuart) Heeney; husband, George; and sisters, Marilyn and Helene.

Visitation for Madelyn will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres, MI 48703. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Wichert officiating. Interment will follow in Sims-Whitney Cemetery in Au Gres.
