Music in the Park to raise money for park, activities

ALGER — Four bands will take the stage at the Moffatt Township Park in Alger Saturday, Aug. 26, during the third annual Music in the Park fundraiser concert.

Alger Parks and Rec Chairwoman Marion Chard said the event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight. The event will feature No Right on Red from 5-5:45 p.m., Jeff and Friends from 6:15-7 p.m., Crossing Woodward from 7:30-9 p.m. and the 202 Band from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.

Chard said admission is $5 and children 12 years old and younger can get in for free.

“All of the money goes toward putting on more events for the kids, such as T-ball and softball, the kids’ Christmas party, and of course trying to spruce up the park,” she said.

Last year the event raised around $1,800, Chard said.

“Every year has improved,” she said. “The first year was decent. The second year was better and this year we’re hoping it’s even better.”

A beer and wine tent will once again be available for concertgoers 21 and older and this year there will be more food items available from the concession stand, Chard said. Drawings for kids prizes are also planned, she said.
