Neil V. McGuire, 91, of Turner passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 5, 2017, at his home with family by his side.

Neil was born Sept. 8, 1925, to the late Thomas W. and Alice M. (Leuenberger) McGuire in Saginaw County’s Kochville Township. Neil joined the U.S. Army on Dec. 22, 1944. He proudly served in the Philippines and Japan and was stationed at Fort Sheridan, Fort Hood and West Point Academy. Neil achieved the rank of corporal prior to his discharge May 7, 1947. On Jan. 10, 1953, Neil married the former Phyllis Pendred and together they started their family, raising four children, Judy, Peggy, Thomas and Dennis. Neil was a lifelong produce farmer. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Phyllis; children, Judy (McGuire) Roth of Saginaw, Thomas (Francine Hugo) McGuire of Turner and Dennis (Karen Kulek) McGuire of Turner; 10 grandchildren, Kristine Blackmon, Chad (Amanda) Roth, Melissa (Jerry) Perrin, Tommy (Jordan Zimmer) McGuire, Kevin (Alaina) Roth, Kimberly (Ben) Sumey, Timmy (Brooke) McGuire, Carrie Roth, Sarah (Travis Byard) McGuire and Patrick McGuire; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy McGuire; and son-in-law, Kim Roth.

Visitation for Neil will take place from 3-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, and 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Michigan Ave., Au Gres. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Military honors will immediately follow at Sims~Whitney Township Cemetery in Au Gres.
