Omer woman dies in one-car crash

STANDISH TWP. — A 28-year old woman was killed when the motor vehicle she was driving left the roadway and struck a utility pole April 26 in Standish Township.

According to information from the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department, Rachael Davies of Omer was traveling northbound on State Road in a Mercury Sable, when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway. Then, in what police say appeared to be an attempt to get back on the roadway, Davies reportedly overcorrected and left the roadway on the right side, striking the utility pole.

The incident was reported shortly after 3 a.m. near Kraushaar Road. No other vehicles were involved in the incident and there were no additional passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by Arenac County MMR, the Standish Area Fire Authority and H & R Towing.
