LINCOLN TWP. — A 44-year-old woman from Standish died in an auto accident at the intersection of I-75 and M-61 May 8.

Undersheriff Don McIntyre said at approximately 2:24 p.m. the sheriff’s department responded to a call of a two-vehicle entrapment accident, which claimed the life of Corrine Peterson, 44, of Standish.

“An eastbound vehicle on M-61 was struck by a vehicle that turned into the path of travel,” McIntyre said.

Peterson was driving eastbound on M-61 with a 47-year-old female from Sterling in a Buick Rendezvous when a vehicle headed westbound reportedly turned in front of her to enter the expressway.

The other vehicle, a Buick LaCrosse, was driven by a 68-year-old man from West Branch.

Peterson was pronounced dead on the scene. The male driver of the LaCrosse and the female passenger of the Rendezvous were transported by Mobile Medical Response to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital before being transported to St. Mary’s of Saginaw.

According to McIntyre, no citations have been issued at this time.

“Due to the serious nature of the accident we had to call in our reconstructionist and a full investigation is ongoing right now,” he said.

The sheriff’s department was assisted on scene by the Saginaw Tribal Police, Standish Fire Authority and MMR.
