Richard F. “Dick” Sturk, 89, of of Point Wenonah in Standish, formerly of Flint, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at his home following a lingering illness.

He was born in Flint on May 28, 1930, to the late Theodore and Anna (Look) Sturk. He married the former Mary E. Schwind on May 16, 1953, at st. Mary’s Church in Flint; she preceded him in death. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War, founder of the Flint Judo Club in 1953 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed being on the water, fishing and being with his family.

He is survived by his children, Randy and Dawn Sturk, Ryan and Scarlett Smith Sturk, Rene Sturk and Richard and Julie Sturk; grandchildren, Eric, Chris, Kelly Anspaugh, Kari Stach, Jessica Treece, Tim, Daniel and Jacob; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Dottie Clyne; and a brother, Jerry Sturk.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place, and inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc.
