Rock group to kick off art center’s concert season

STANDISH — Billy Mack and the JukeJoint Johnnies are scheduled to rock the Northeast Art Center in Standish Oct. 8 to kick off the Northeast Michigan Arts Council’s annual concert series.

According to a NEMAC press release, Billy Mack is a proven entertainer who has toured nationally with the Starlight Drifters. He is joined by drummer Tony Handley, a 35-year music veteran; bass player Chuck Deuel, who has played in bands sharing billing with Bob Seger and MC5; and saxophone and lead guitar player Claybourne Stewart, another 35-year veteran of the industry who has played with or opened for many national acts.

The Oct. 8 concert is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Tickets will be on sale starting at 1:30 p.m. the day of the show. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $4 for students and $2 for children 12 and younger.

Other performers scheduled for the concert season include Jean Marie & The Lads Nov. 12, The Laurie Middlebrook Band Jan. 7 and Equinox March 11.
