Roger raced at Whittemore Speedway in its earliest years. He was also an athlete and sports lover, excelling in both baseball and basketball in high school, and then umpiring Little League for many years as an adult. He also enjoyed golfing until his back injury in the late ’90s.

He and Pauline retired to their home on Lake Huron and wintered in St. Augustine, Fla., for the last 13 years.

Roger is survived by his wife, Pauline; and two daughters, Kathy (David) Carmona of Roselle, Ill., and Denise Hall of Weidman. Surviving are three grandchildren, Travis Carmona and Jacob Carmona of Roselle, Ill., and Jessica Hall of Standish. His first great-grandchild will be born in March 2019. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Ralph (Phyllis) Degesie of Whittemore; and sister-in-law, Betty (Bob) Degesie-LaRose of Colorado; as well as three nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thad and Ardath Hall of Beulah, formerly of Whittemore; and his in-laws, Ralph and Lillian Degesie of Whittemore.

He will be missed every day by those left behind.
