Semi rolls over on northbound I-75

STERLING — The Arenac County Sheriff's Department worked to clear the scene of a single-axle commercial truck rollover on I-75 northbound near the 199 mile marker the morning of Sept. 14.

According to Arenac County Central Dispatch, the call was received at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Undersheriff Don McIntyre said the driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove off into the median, where the truck rolled over. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division.

McIntyre said the driver will receive several citations as a result of the accident.

McIntyre reported at 10:20 a.m. that Sunrise Side Towing was on scene working to remove the truck. However, McIntyre said it could take hours for the scene to be cleared because of the size. Because of the location, he said traffic wasn't being impeded by the accident.

Dispatch reported that the scene was cleared at approximately 11:34 a.m.

There were no injuries in the accident. No further information is available at this time.
