Solar farm developer to present in Standish

STANDISH — People interested in leasing or selling land to a solar development investment company are invited to the Standish Michigan Works office from 2-3 p.m. April 11 to hear about future opportunities.

Scott Aaronson, real estate developer for IPS Solar of St. Paul, Minn., said the company is seeking out Consumers Energy customers with at least 20 acres near three-phase power infrastructure.

“We need three-phase power lines running by the property,” he said. “Really that’s our biggest requirement. The second thing is that it should be in a rural environment or in an area where we could build large-scale solar developments.”

Aaronson said during his presentation, he will describe the process of how IPS Solar can develop solar farms on open property. He said IPS pays approximately $600 per acre per year.

“It’s a pretty good deal for farmers and it’s a great deal for people who rent their land to farmers,” he said.

Aaronson said the best way for someone to determine if they live near three-phase power is if the nearby power poles resemble a T at the top and have three lines running along them.

For more information, contact Aaronson at 248-935-1165 or Michigan Works at 989-846-2111. The Standish Michigan Works office is located at 4480 W. M-61.
