Summer Concert Series to bring live music to Standish

Posted

STANDISH — The Standish Historical Depot is kicking off its Summer Concert Series Thursday, June 20, and will continue to hold concerts every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. throughout the course of summer.

The shows will run until the first week of August, with the exception of the week of the Fourth of July and the week of the Arenac County Fair.

For the past eight years, the depot has hosted a variety of musical acts from the area and out of town in order to provide music to the people of Arenac County, depot Coordinator Brenda Matt said.

“(The people) love it,” Matt said. “You don't have a lot of opportunity to go hear live bands or live entertainers, unless you want to travel to Mount Pleasant or The Palace to hear big names. It is just an opportunity for local people to enjoy themselves and enjoy an evening out that is inexpensive.”

The shows are free of charge aside from popcorn and refreshments available at the depot.

It is recommended that residents bring lawn chairs for the event as seating is limited.
