Theodore Mitgutsch

Died Aug. 7, 2018

Theodore Mitgutsch, 85, of Standish passed away peacefully Aug. 7, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Glöckelberg, Czechoslovakia, to Alois and Aloisia (Löw) Mitgutsch and moved to Standish in 1958. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Bachleda, on Oct. 14, 1961, at St. Florian Catholic Church in Standish.

Ted retired from Forward Corporation after more than 30 years and was a member of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. Anyone talking to Ted enjoyed hearing his stories from back home and maybe even a few deer hunting stories. Along with being an avid deer hunter, he enjoyed polka dances and camping with his family. He especially loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Jennifer and Taylor, and new great granddaughter, Allison.

Surviving beside his wife, Phyllis, are two children, Kristin (Gary) Sullivan of Standish and Eric (Lynda) Mitgutsch of Dundee; granddaughter, Taylor (Jason) Rice; and great-granddaughter, Allison. He is also survived by one sister, Hilde Carruthers of Standish; brother-in-law, Bernard Bachleda of Standish; many nieces and nephews; and his furry buddy, Sylvester.

He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Sullivan) Barnes.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to the Resurrection Parish or InTeliCare hospice services.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel.
