US-23 paving expected to take about a week

STANDISH — A paving project on US-23 in the city of Standish is projected to last about one week, according to Michigan Department of Transportation Spokeswoman Jocelyn Hall.

Hall said MDOT plans to mill and resurface the roadway. The project was scheduled to begin July 17, she said.

“It should be pretty simple as long as weather cooperates,” she said.

Orange cones were placed alongside the roadway leading up to start of the $400,000 project, Hall said. She said single-lane closures can be expected in work areas. Hall said the project is for maintenance purposes as opposed to complete rebuild.
