Veterans, auxiliary hosting Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony

STANDISH — Local members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts and the post auxiliaries will host and participate in a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in Standish Sept. 11.

The annual ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church’s Sept. 11 shrine. VFW member Marty Metiva said Standish Mayor Ray Koroleski is scheduled to deliver a speech. Metiva said Father David Parsch typically delivers an opening prayer and a bugler plays “Taps” during the event.

The event is held annually to remember first responders and members of the military. Metiva said it is rather short and usually lasts about 15 minutes.
