William E. Kernstock

William E. Kernstock, 65, of Standish, formerly of Alger, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the McLaren Bay Region hospital, Bay City.

William was born June 11, 1951, in Bay City to the late Edmund G. and Elizabeth J. (Sharp) Kernstock. Bill worked for many years as a forklift operator for Franklin Forge in Alger. He was a volunteer fireman for the Alger/Moffatt Township Fire Department. William also volunteered to coach the Alger baseball team, and he was a member of the Faith Lutheran Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Standish.

William is survived by one brother, Gary (Janet) Kernstock; one sister, Barbara (Lester) Eichman; and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Kernstock. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and -nephews. William is also survived by a special friend, Delorse Formolo.

He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Kernstock; and one great-nephew, Brett Jenkins.

Memorial services will be held Monday, May 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 5622 Johnsfield Rd., Standish, with the Rev. Matthew Dent officiating. According to William’s wishes, cremation has taken place. William’s family would like to thank the St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Skilled Nursing Facility and the McLaren Bay Region hospital for their excellent care.
