William R. Ide

Died Jan. 31, 2018


William Roger Ide, 69, of Flint, formerly of Alger, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at his residence in Flint with his loving family by his side.

William was born March 31, 1948, in West Branch to Maxine (Geister) Lawrence and the late Glen Ide. He married Cynthia Clapp Feb. 9, 1991, in Mount Morris. He enjoyed working and loved his co-workers, retiring from the CN Railway as a machine operator. He also enjoyed being with all his friends. William loved NASCAR and even enjoyed racing himself at Whittemore Speedway, Auto City and others. He also raced go-karts and collected old cars. William enjoyed hunting and fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed having grandchildren around. William was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and everyone who knew him. God was also a very important part of William’s life.

William is survived by his wife, Cynthia; and his children, April (Roger) Kime, Patricia (David) Runyon, Randean (Mike Davis) Valkoun, Mark Valkoun and Ferdinand (Daisy) Valkoun. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; his mother, Maxine (Fred) Lawrence; four brothers; three sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by man’s best friend, PJ.

William was predeceased by his father, Glen; and two brothers, Randy and Kim.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with Pastor Jose Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Alger Cemetery. The family will greet family and friends Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, from noon to 4 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 5, from 2-6 p.m.; and Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
